Former Harlem Globetrotter TyRone "Hollywood" Brown leads by example on and off the court, and his efforts have earned him one of the most desirable awards for good works in the community. The Savannah native will be honored Thursday, Sept. Brown has spent over two decades as a motivational speaker, talking with children across America and stressing the significance of literature.

Brown estimated he has traveled nearly 4 million miles, been to all 50 states and has reached 2 million kids. William "Pony" Wilson, 92, passed away Wednesday, Nov. After high school, Pony was drafted into the Army where he played football. He earned a scholarship to Virginia Union University and starred in basketball too. Pony was drafted by the football Baltimore Colts and recruited in basketball by the Harlem Globetrotters. He decided to play with the Globetrotters where he starred for several seasons.

Tyrone grew up in Savannah, Georgia.
