During her time at Ateneo, she managed the features section of the university paper The Guidonfor which her team was awarded the Raul Locsin Award for Student Journalism. I received my Palanca Awards when I was in high school. But when I joined, I ended up loving it. I thought I was just a writer—and then I reported on cam. I never expected these changes, but when they did happen, I was so thankful knowing that my world could expand and that I could expand with it.
I was always very goal-oriented, even as a child: very competitive, very ambitious. Every sports game is a microcosm for greater society. You see this from why we like the underdogs. We see our struggles in their struggles.

This is why, when you see problems in sports—like the way women are treated—it may tell you something about greater society. Women working as courtside reporters are hit with a lot of sexism. The sports industry is truly a male-dominated field, and for a long time, women were a token addition. Sometimes, I sit around with coaches and talk about coaching styles.
And of course, my own podcasts "What's AP? Araling Panlipunan Rebooted" and "Go Hard Girls," because in the process of making them, I study and learn a lot as well! Inspiration: I've gotten into watercolor painting during the lockdown and learned a lot from artists on Instagram like alicelovesdrawing.

I listen to guided meditation podcasts like "Meditation Muna" and psychology podcasts like "Hidden Brain". Movement: Confession time—I don't work out as much as I should. Unwind: Journaling or playing Stardew Valley. Snack On-Hand: Croissants, pain au chocolat, pies, empanadas—anything bread, really! Desk essential: I write in my journal every day as a way to keep track of my thoughts and what I'm grateful for.
I use the Midori A6 notebook and a variety of fountain pen inks, and stickers. As a writer: Earlier this year I wrote a story about sexism in the way Philippine media covers female athletes. Do we actually we need to settle for this? To see athletes, fellow journalists and fans sharing the article and talking about their own experiences, and to see the discussion grow and grow?
Being a freelancer means every day is different. Running a publication is so hard! Basic question: What has everyone else done? Then do something else. There was also a lot of misinformation going around on social media during the elections—false info, memes, made-up quotes. The fight is in social media. So I use Twitter to tweet facts and commentary.
I quote-retweet my replies to people spreading misinformation so more people can see. And I share articles about what really happened whenever I come across them. One-off discussions should snowball into a collective narrative, which should then lead to actual changes in how we behave. Women in media need to work together, too. Passion project lang talaga for both of us.

Push back against little forms of discrimination. Hopefully that gives others pause before doing the same to other women. Social media has made it easier than ever to get information. Social media has neither improved or diminished the accuracy of journalism. Real journalism is accurate. Hopefully we learn more discernment as we go along.
But the big dream ever since I was a kid is to host my own food and travel show. I got my start working behind the scenes so I can produce and write as well. Haha ang daming gusto no?
